November is National Adoption Awareness Month

Where we Finish, #AFamilyStarts

This November, there are a number of ways that you can celebrate National Adoption Awareness Month by supporting Gift of Adoption.

Participate in our #AFamilyStarts campaign by hosting a digital fundraiser or spreading the word on social media. Or, attend a local chapter event to help raise awareness and funds for children being adopted by families in your area. Regardless of how you choose to support Gift of Adoption this month, we’re making it easier than ever before to show how much adoption means to you.

#AFamilyStarts Social Media Campaign

To honor Adoption Awareness Month this November, we’re helping a family start. Bryan and Kathi have been providing children with a safe, welcoming home for years while serving as foster parents. When they first decided to expand their family in 2018, Kathi and Bryan met Deni, a bright young woman in eastern Europe looking for a family to call her own. A grant from Gift of Adoption helped them complete Deni’s adoption.

Now, their family is expanding again. During their journey to adopt Deni, Kathi and Bryan met 15-year-old Mario. After bringing Deni home to the U.S., they began pursuing his adoption before he ‘aged-out’ at age 16. Mario suffers from epilepsy; November is also National Epilepsy Awareness Month, making this the perfect time to fund his grant so that he can receive the healthcare necessary to manage his condition.

While visiting Mario another boy, Robert, introduced himself to the couple. Just weeks away from aging past adoption eligibility, Robert asked Bryan and Kathi to adopt him, as well.

Bryan and Kathi are planning to travel back to eastern Europe at the end of this year to bring both Robert and Mario home to the United States. Gift of Adoption has awarded grants to help with the final costs of these concurrent adoptions.

We only have four weeks to fund Kathi and Bryan’s grants and we need your help to do so. Here are just a few ways you can help us bring Robert and Mario home for the holidays:

If 400 people contribute just $30 this November, we’ll have fully funded the grants that will bring Robert and Mario home this holiday season. Throughout Adoption Awareness Month, Gift of Adoption will post videos and updates from Robert and Mario’s adoption journey. Follow us on social media to stay tuned!
