A Gift of Adoption

As the year-end draws near, we are reminded of the precious gift of time; particularly the precious moments of childhood. We invite you to meet Shawn and Levi and, if you can, contribute to their homecoming and their upcoming 6th birthday – a birthday that is just the beginning. A donation of any amount, a note of encouragement, or birthday card that you wish to send to Gift of Adoption to share with Shawn and Levi and their adoptive family would be heartily welcomed!

Shawn and Levi’s story is emblematic of how lives can be changed radically for the good. Thank you for being a believer in and a participant in giving the gift of adoption.

Meet Shawn and Levi

Shawn and Levi are five-year old boys who share toys and a true friendship. They have been living in a Ukrainian orphanage since birth and are both battling a chronic life-threatening medical condition.

If nothing were to change, the boys, because of their medical condition and the sheer scarcity of resources in their home town, would move from their present orphanage to an institution after which all possibility of being adopted would be lost.

Once in the institution they would be much less likely to receive adequate shelter, love, or care. It is likely they would not receive the medical treatment they need to stay healthy.

As is the fate for most special needs orphans in the Ukraine, this move to the institution was being arranged to take place within the year – before the boys reached their sixth birthdays.

Upon learning about this reality for Ukrainian orphans, April and Everett, a couple residing in Kentucky with their biological daughters, moved forward to do what they could to provide a safe, stable and loving home for children who’d otherwise go without. They met Shawn and Levi and knew these two boys would be well-cared for, treasured, and have the tremendous opportunity to grow up strong into adulthood; together as brothers in the same family.

Gift of Adoption is playing an important role in getting these boys home for good. We are providing the final funding of $7,500 needed to complete their adoptions – and we invite you to make a gift, of any size, to help us fund this grant.
