It’s true. According to a recent study by the Dave Thomas Foundation, 4 out of 10 Americans have seriously considered adoption. Regrettably, less than 2% ever begin the process. And in the end – just 1% finally realize their dream of adopting.

So what are the barriers? The high upfront costs associated with adoption are the number one stumbling block.

On average, Gift of Adoption grant applicants face over $25,000 in upfront expenses to cover legal fees, home-study costs, travel expenses and pre-adoption childcare costs.
