The Need

Watching her explore her surroundings and then look up to you with a big grin on her face makes the struggles leading up to this point more than worth it.

The Gift of Adoption has changed my husband’s and my life in amazingly wonderful ways. Our daughter completes our family circle and we cannot imagine life without her.

We are so thankful for the gift that adoption has given us.

Sadly, 140 million children in this world are orphaned – living without parents in overburdened orphanages or worse on the streets. Even for those you might count as lucky enough to be in some type of foster care, this is usually just temporary.

Stark Implications
The ramifications for these children are stark. For every 3 to 5 months of life, an orphaned child will lose 1 month in normal developmental growth and progress.

Did you know?
500,000 children in the U.S. foster care system have no permanent family to call their own.

Yet, this only scratches the surface of the impact of inaction.  Growing up alone without a permanent family to guide and care for them leaves children with few options and ways to  create the kind of life for themselves that they'd dream of.

There is no mystery that children grow strong into adulthood through the direct and lasting impact of permanent parenting.  Parentless children who remain un-adopted experience significant difficulties and hardships.  Studies show that 90% of these children will experience mental illness, about 40% will be involved in criminal activity and, and ultimately 30% of these children will  become homeless.

Without the loving guidance of a parent who loves them, what's a child to do?

Did you know?
Just 2% of children who age out of the foster care system will go on to graduate college.

Adoption is The Solution
Yet, research shows – moving a child from an orphanage or foster care into a loving home permanently improves the child’s prospects for the future. Adopted children are more likely to pursue an education and go on to live productive, successful lives.

As one young adopted child notes: “It doesn’t matter where you come from, it only matters where you land.”

100,000 children in the U.S. foster care system have been waiting to be adopted for over 3 years.
