“The Gift of Adoption Fund is a national 501(c) 3 that inspires adoptions by giving grants that put adoption in reach: in reach for the 140 million children worldwide in need of families, for qualified parents yearning to adopt, and for those of us who want to do something concrete to move a child from a dire situation into a life of hope and promise.

While there are many ways to respond to the millions of children living without a parent, we believe that adoption is an essential, curative way to care for the most vulnerable among us - a child without a parent. We support this belief by providing adoption grants to qualified parents who are stepping forward to give these children a safe and loving home.

Research substantiates that moving a child from a foster care system or an orphanage into a loving home permanently improves the child’s prospects for the future.

We know that each month hundreds of Americans consider adoption, but because of the high costs to complete an adoption, less than 2% move forward. We would like more of these caring people to feel they can move forward into the adoption journey, with the confidence that financial requirements for completing the adoption will not be a roadblock for them - knowing they are joined by individuals, families, foundations, corporations and community groups who all share the belief that something immediate and curative must and can be done for these orphaned children.

Any U.S. citizen adopting from anywhere in the world (domestic or international) who has an approved home study from a licensed agency or social worker is eligible to apply for a grant. Financial need and personal commitment toward financing a significant portion of the adoption cost must be demonstrated. The number of biological children or adopted children in the home does not impact eligibility. We do not consider an applicant’s marital status, gender, race, creed, national origin, religion, or sexual orientation when reviewing applications.

The average adoption costs more than $20,000. Our grants up to $7,500 combined with the families’ funds, truly make these adoptions possible.
